What are the aims of our school?

We aim to provide a broad and balanced education which develops each child and enables them to achieve their full potential. We are particularly concerned that children develop the right attitudes to learning and also towards other people and property. We believe strongly in promoting strong values and good relationships and the ethos of the school is based on this.

We are committed to providing lunchtime activities and end-of day clubs whenever possible which offer further development and enjoyment to all children.

We have high but realistic expectations of our pupils in terms of both work and behaviour and we aim to lead them to an understanding of the difference between right and wrong and towards taking responsibility for their own actions. We also aim to foster a positive working relationship between staff and parents which will benefit the children.

Curriculum areas covered in school (from Year 1 to Year 6) include the following:

Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Information & Communication Technology (ICT), Religious Education.

Foundation Subjects: History, Geography, P.E., Music, Art, Design & Technology , PSHCE (personal, social, health and citizenship education), Modern Foreign Languages (MFL - French).

  • Personal, Social and Emotional
  • Communication

towngate_in_the_snow.jpgAt Towngate we aim to provide an environment for all of the school community, with the children at the centre, striving for this to be:

  • Positive & welcoming
  • Secure, and caring
  • Fun, exciting & meaningful
  • Inspiring, motivating & challenging

Which develops:

  • A happy, healthy ‘whole’ child
  • A respectful individual – of themselves & others
  • A confident and independent lifelong learner

We seek to open doors to new ideas, enabling all learners to pass through and achieve their potential both within school and beyond.
